Your car battery does one critical job: deliver sufficient and reliable power to start your engine, every single time. When it can’t, you’re stuck and that’s no fun!
At Motor Tech Auto Repair, we offer professional battery testing and replacement to make sure that never happens to you. Whether you’re dealing with slow cranking on a cold Colorado morning, a dashboard warning light, or a truck or SUV that simply won’t start, our ASE-certified technicians diagnose the root cause and get you back on the road quickly.
We typically use ACDelco batteries, the same Original Equipment (OE) standard used by General Motors and trusted by professional shops nationwide. We also have access to other OE-branded batteries when needed — Motorcraft is one example. Unlike the budget-priced batteries found on retail store shelves, ACDelco batteries are built to meet or exceed your vehicle’s factory specifications. That means longer life, more reliable performance, and a warranty you can actually count on.
Warning Signs Your Battery Needs Attention
Colorado drivers face battery conditions that are more extreme than most people realize. Our Front Range climate is described by wide temperature swings, intense UV exposure at altitude, and sudden weather changes. This creates a perfect storm for early battery failure. Here’s what’s happening to your battery throughout the year:
Summer heat is the #1 killer. Under-hood temperatures can climb well above 200°F during Colorado summers. This accelerates the internal chemical breakdown inside the battery, corroding plates and evaporating electrolyte fluid. The damage happens quietly as your battery may seem fine all summer, then suddenly fail when fall arrives and puts a higher demand on it.
Winter cold exposes an already weakened battery. Cold temperatures dramatically reduce a battery’s ability to deliver cranking amps, the burst of power needed to start the engine. A battery that tested at 70% capacity in October may not start your car on a January morning in the Denver metro. Colorado’s overnight temperature drops can be sudden and severe, and a marginal battery may have no warning signs until the morning you need it most.
Rapid temperature changes accelerate wear. It’s not just the extremes, it’s the swings. Going from a 70°F afternoon to a 20°F overnight, week after week, causes repeated thermal expansion and contraction inside the battery that degrades its internal structure over time.
Our recommendation for Colorado drivers: Have your battery tested at least once a year, and more frequently if your battery is three years or older. Proactive testing is far less costly and inconvenient than an unexpected no-start.
Our Precision Process
Accurate diagnosis: we confirm it’s actually the battery not the alternator or a parasitic drain
OE-spec replacement: ACDelco batteries meet or exceed factory specs, unlike budget retail options
Longer-lasting results: a proper connection and correct battery means you’re not back for the same issue
